Venus Terms and Conditions for driving lessons

Please read through the following terms and conditions carefully, if you don't understand any part of them please discuss with your instructor. You will be required to sign a copy of this agreement at the start of the first lesson.

Driving licence and eyesight
You must hold a current valid licence (either provisional or full) which must be produced on the first lesson. You must also be able to read a number plate from a distance 20.5 metres (67 feet) using your glasses if normally worn.

Payments:

Lesson fees are quoted at the time of booking and may be changed at any time.  All lesson fees must be paid by cheque or cash at the beginning of each lesson, unless paying for a block booking of 10 hours which can be paid for via the website in advance of the lesson.  Cheques must be accompanied by a valid bankers card.

Appointments:

When booking appointments please:

  • give as much notice of the possible days and times you would like, this enables you to have more chance to book the most convenient times for you, remember there are also between 30-40 other pupils all trying to book.
  • accept that it is in your own interests to be punctual to the lesson. All appointments should be recorded to ensure that mistakes are avoided. Should you fail to arrive punctually for a lesson, the instructor would make reasonable efforts to contact you and then wait for a maximum of 15 minutes before the lesson would be abandoned and the lesson fee charged. A reciprocal waiting time may become necessary if the instructor is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Any lesson time lost as a result of this would be made up by the instructor either at the end of the normal lesson time if possible or at a later date. The instructor will endeavor to contact you to alert you of any delay greater than 5 minutes to the arrival at the agreed meeting point.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that all of your contact details are up to date. If the instructor has not been notified of a change of phone number and therefore cannot contact you, for example to warn you of a delay the instructor will not be liable.

Cancellations:

  • You must give 48 hours notice if you are unable to keep any appointment.
  • The full lesson fee will be charged if less than 48 hours notice is given.
  • If you need to cancel a lesson at short notice the only acceptable method is via phone. If the instructor is unavailable to answer, leaving a voicemail is acceptable. (please clearly state, your name, time of lesson and contact number) To amend a lesson time or day with more than 48 hours notice it is acceptable to text the instructor but until the instructor has confirmed the change it is your responsibility to ensure that they are aware of the change. It is always preferable to contact the instructor via a phone call. That way mistakes and misunderstandings are unlikely. It is never acceptable to change or cancel a lesson via email as the instructor may well be out teaching all day and not receive the message until they reach the office.
  • Frequent changes to the lesson times may result in the request of lesson fees to be paid in advance or a refusal to book more times.
  •  All bookings are made on the understanding that the School is not responsible for the postponement of training due to traffic conditions, adverse weather conditions, illness or mechanical breakdown. Venus Driver Training cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of the postponement of any lessons, for whatever reason.

Locations:

All pupils will be picked up and dropped off at home unless otherwise requested and agreed in advance. If another meeting or finishing place is requested to that already agreed the lesson may need to be shortened to cover any additional traveling time and avoid disrupting other pupils.

The driving Test:

  • You must consult and agree on test dates and times with your instructor before booking a test.
  • Notify your instructor immediately of test dates, times and locations to ensure you reserve the car.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure you have the required documentation when attending for test.

Use of the Venus Driver Training car:

Your instructor reserves the right to refuse at any time the use of the car for test or lesson:

  • If your driving is considered below the required standard for the test, or it is considered not likely to reach that standard in the time available.
  • If your driving has been affected by the cancellation of lessons for whatever reason.
  • If lesson, test or any other fees remain unpaid.

This includes but is not limited to, a situation were the pupil has disregarded the Instructor's advice to reschedule their test. The instructor reserves the right to refuse to give tuition if, in the opinion of the Instructor, it is considered that the pupil is unfit to drive due to any reason, including but not limited to: being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, illness, failing to wear glasses or contact lenses were these are required by law. In these instances, the instructor reserves the right to charge you the full lesson fee. You must notify the instructor of any medication you are taking that may affect your ability to drive safely.

Venus Driver Training cannot be held responsible for  test appointments being postponed or canceled by the Driving Standards Agency. Furthermore we are not responsible for any mechanical failure whatsoever - for example of light bulbs etc during the practical test.

Venus Driver Training will not be liable for any costs, expenses, claims or losses incurred following our refusal or inability to provide a car or instructor for any lesson or test, how so ever caused and for whatever reason.
